The development lies adjacent to Reading Station and within a short walk of Reading centre and its facilities. The proposals will open up the Royal Mail site, allowing better pedestrian access to Reading Station from Caversham Road, through a new tree-lined avenue connecting with the station entrance.
The proposals will contribute towards public transport services, alongside funding additional primary and secondary school places within the town. A new public square will be formed outside of the station entrance, which can be used for community events, or as a space to relax.
Residents within the centre of town have predominantly lower car ownership and this is reflected in the car parking spaces which would be made available. Car clubs will also offer a flexible and convenient alternative to car ownership, allowing residents to book a car when they need one, without having the expense of owning their own car.
